50 Things Every Young Lady Should Know

Creating the transition from childhood to early adulthood can be a confusing and challenging period in any young girls life. Thankfully women before us have been kind enough to store the little gems they have learned on their own journey for the future generation to take on board.
This msy mot be a compleye how-to guide (we are for the most part winging life anyway) however there are a number (50 in fact) of simple yet effective keys to take away and are just as easy to implement into your everyday life.

After a quick scan one may think that the lessons included would be rather basic commonalities in the world but unfortunately as we live in a society which applauds vulgarity and displeasantry, it is an art which has been slowly fading away into the shadows. Manners including please and thank you is standard but can easily be forgotten depending on tge environment and company you are socialised in. However all help is not lost, the more you make a conscious effort to include it in your vocabulary the more natural it will become to use on a frequent basis.

If you are not accustimoned to being around people who possess such character, you may not realise how your actions could possibly comes across as unintentionally inappropriate. True manners can go a long way. It demonstrates that you are a polite and respectful individual and those are some of the most pleasant kind of people to be surrounded by.

I believe this title would be ideal for a young teen girl or a young adult approaching their early
however, even the eldest can always do with refining their demeanor.

There are excellent examples of "dos and don'ts" regular occurences which you can learn from and implement your day to day life. This would be beat described as a guide on the basics of conducting yourself in a respectful and adequate manner. You will encounter individuals of all walks of life and one common value which should d always be practiced is respect. Offer respect and more times than none you will receive it back! The lady who carries herself in a decent manner will always be repsected and cherished.

How To Write A UCAS Personal Statement

If you are reading this post I suspect that you will be looking to apply for university in the near future. In order to apply you must write a personal statement to explain why you want a place on your desired course and why you are the right candidate to study at their institution.  For some courses including medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine/science courses, as well as all courses at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, the deadline is October 15 however the deadline for other courses is January 15th (as of January 2021, this has been extended).

If you have a looked on the official UCAS website they have in fact created a worksheet and mindmap to help structure your own personal statement which is what I used to build my own application. It helped tremendously and I will be expanding on those points in this post. I did however, leave out the sections which I felt were not necessary for me to include and you are more than welcome to do the same. Now without further ado lets get into it.

Paragraph 1: Why do You Want to Study This Subject?
First off you want to begin your statement by explaining the reasoning behind picking the course you have applied for. What has drawn your attention to it? Was it a personal experience which inspired you? A story? A family memeber or friend? Whatever the reason is, be sure to explain why it means so much to you and how you came to this ultimate decision. Be passion but not overly dramatic. Be honest amd authentic and aim to express your desire as clear as possible.

Para 2: Education & Work Experience
Next, you may want to discuss any relevant courses you have completed which have helped you build your knowledge of work in this particular area this may include Health and Social Care, Sociology, Science, Psychology and the like. Discuss what your favourite modules were and why. Similarly if you have work experience in this field discuss in detail what you learned from this and how you may apply those lessons to your future course. Regardless of whether it is voluntary or paid work, going the extra mile to find relevant work to your course lets the admissions officers know have a genuine interest in learning more and increasing your insight into the field you are interested in. If you are unable to acquire paid work experience maybe due to age (under 18) or Covid-19, there are still resources online to help you learn and you may still be able to include these in your personal statement. This includes attending virtual open days, online workshops, and watching documetaries.

Paragraph 3: Skills and Qualities Which Make You The Right Candidate
Skills and qualities can be merged with the previous paragraph as they are closely tied. With all of your learning and hands on experience (if you have any) in detail talk about the skills you gathered along the way and how this may be beneficial to you once your course begins.

Paragraph 4: Hobbies and Interests
If I were an admissions officer I would say this would be one of my favourite sections to read about. Universities want to know that you are a well rounded individual and you live an active life outside of your studies. After completing my last draft of my personal statement I had a career adviser inform me to only add hobbies if they were relevant to the course. For example if you were applying for vetinary medicine, maybe your love of horseriding has increased your desire to care for animals. Although the hobbies I included were not necessarily linked to my course I mentioned the skills gained ftom them and how they can support me on my future endeavours.
They want to know that you are a wekl rounded Invidual and you are generally a pkeasant person who lives life to the full.

Paragraph 5: Future Plans
Perhaps you have thought about a specialist area you would like to pursue on completion of your course, I would definitely suggest to mention this as it demonstrates you are forward thinking and actively working towards a long term plan with the course you have picked. If there is anything you are currently doing to prepare yourself for this include this as well. For example I know someone who applied for a BSc in Social Work and they had mentioned in their personal statment that they were interested in working in Deaf Services and added they were in the process of learning British Sign Language to help prepare for this. In the instance you have not thought that far ahead maybe this is something you may want to consider however if you simply are not sure and need time to think about, that is fine to. There is no need to overwhelm yourself before your career has even begun!

Plan. Prepare. Apply. Enjoy the process and best of luck with your application.

Incomparable By Brie & Nikki Bella

My introduction to the Bella Twins began whilst  exploring the reality TV show, Total Diva, a show exploring the behind the scenes lives of wrestlers in the women's division, including Trinity Fatu, Ariane Andrew, Natalya Neidhart and more. In actuality wrestling has never been a sport I have ever taken much  interest in but I love reality TV so I gave it a trial and instantly became hooked! The show was a hit with viewers and not long after, WWE champions Nikki and Brie Bella, were offered an opportunity to air their spin off, Total Bellas, which has become an international success.

Four years after premiering their TV series, the Bella sisters have penned their own memoir detailing the their story on their journey to stardom and entrepreneurship. Incomparable is a fitting name to explain their life story because being twin sisters I can imagine how frequently they would be compared to one another and the frustration that may come with that. Although they shared a womb and journeyed through life together,  it is also important to remember they are seperate individuals. Brie takes the role of the deep, down to earth hippie who loves earth and nature whereas, Bella is spontaneous, lives for glitz and glamour and appreciates the finer things in life.

Throughout the book, Nikki and Brie are honest and Frank about the rough childhood they faced having experienced childhood trauma through witnessing their dad struggle with addiction and Nikki bravely opening up about the sexual abuse she had encountered as a teenager. The twins discuss the impact of how their trials and tribulations have shaped them and make it crystal clear they do not want to be seen as victims but rather survivors. Every obstacle and barrier has strengthened them and given them resilience to push forward in life.

23 Lessons in 23 Years

Over the weekend I was fortunate enough to reach another year in my life which I am incredibly grateful and thankful for. During this time of quarantine due to the deadly virus, Covid 19, there has not been a whole bunch of things to indulge in so I have taken the time to reflect on 23 Lessons I have learned during my 23 years of life.

1.Be mindful about the information and media you consume from music, movies, articles and books.  The media has a strong influence on your mindset.

2. Read. Read. And read some more. Read to gain wisdom. Read to gain insight. Read to expand your mind. Read to understand. Read to see from a different perspective. Read different materials. Read biographies/memoirs/children's books/fantasy. Read articles. Read journal articles. Read something.

3. Question the beliefs you hold. Alot of opinions you have are popular commentary which have been repeated over without holding any real meaning.

4. You can have more than one career
You don't have to have one profession for the rest of your life, if you have multiple interests there is no harm in exploring them.

5.  Multitasking is not everyone.
Juggling multiple tasks at once is exhausting, give your attention to one thing at a time

6. Write wherever and whenever you can. On the bus. Going for a walk. Before bed. Exercise your writing ability.

7. Replace unnecessary online activity with something that will stimulate your mind I. E writing, journaling

8. Have a mind of your own. Develop your own opinions and do research on topics that interest you to help you become a more rounded individual.

9. Let the past be the past.
The past is the past, you can't change what has already happened but you can learn from it and change the outcome of the future.

10. Move in Silence.
Every time you make plans to accomplish a goal it is not necessary to proclaim it to the world. Whether it be social media, friends or family, a little mystery goes a long way.

11. Keep track of achievements.
It always helps to make note of positive things I may want to remember in the future.

12. Less is more.
Throw away things you don't need, hoarding only creates clutter and junk.

13. Let the past be the past.
The past is the past, you can't change what has already happened but you can learn from it and change the outcome of the future.

14. Draw inspiration from sources but never a carbon copy of what already exists.

15. Do what YOU want within reason and moderation.

16. If it doesn't feel right, don't waste your time forcing it to be

17. The three Ps you need in life in order to progress in whatever you choose to pursue: Practice. Patience. Persist.

18. Write down everything

19. Always be aware and alert of your surroundings.

20. Make time for your hobbies

21. Explore your options

22. Invest in your appearance

23. Question. Research. Learn. Reflect. Until you get the answers you are searching for.

Thanks to God for keeping me for 23 years and hopefully many more years to come.

Life Lessons From Skincare Brand Owner, Maria Hatzistefanis

Maria Hatzistefanis began her career as a beauty writer and later made her through the world of finance. She realised that finance was not her calling and this became evident through her the lack of care displayed at work she eventually was fired from her role in investment banking. She later started moving her way through the world of makeup and beauty. After a tough 18 years she has built and established her Skincare collections Rodial and NIP + Fab,  which have now become global brands sought out by the rich and famous. The author of How to Be an Overnight Success has returned to give readers the truth on how she managed to grow her business from the bottom up. Here I will show you some of my take aways on her new book, How to Make it Happen.

1. Find a Positive Role Model

"Research people that do the job or things that you love, follow them on social media, find articles about them. Read biographies, listen podcasts of successful people that you can relate to." One of my favourite past times is doing my research on women that are doing well in their respective fields because it give me the motivation and encouragement to pursue my own goals. Especially if they are young. Hearing others stories and how they have succeeded in their achievements provides you with an opportunity to take tips from their journey and learn from their mistakes.

2. Avoid Negtive People

Most of us do not purposely choose to surround ourselves with negativity but every now and then you may find yourself in the company of those who just are perpetually miserable with life and their circumstances.  That may include friends, aquaintacances, or colleagues. It is important to recognise when this occurs and distance yourselves from such. The same can also be applied to your life online. I for one have stopped following gossip sites because I do not want to feed my mind with unnecessary commentary about how others live their lives. Not to add it was time consuming and taking up precious time I could be spending on working on my craft or doing another activity which could be beneficial to my life.

3. The Best Way to Deal With Rejection is to Learn From it

When Maria first started her business, her goal was to have her products sold in a luxury department store. After sending numerous calls, and emails, she would hear nothing back. She would go on to do this year after year then after year 7 of continuous asking and pleading, she got her big break and her dream became actualized. A meeting was held and the officials recognised her passion and the uniqueness of her product and finally gave her a chance! Despite being rejected non-stop, this did not stop her from chasing her vision. She used those years to improve her products and work harder than ever before. Just because one of your plans does not work out the first time round, it does not mean it is the end of the road.

4. The Career Woman/Super Woman Trope is a Fantasy

As a busy business woman in the world of beauty and kids to look after, Maria did not shy away from acknowledging that she and her husband (who works in finance) have both a nanny and a housekeeper to keep things at home in order. When celebrities announce that they do in fact outsource help it eases the pressure from regular, everyday women from not feeling as though they need to bear the load of playing 'superwoman'. The superwoman is the loving mother, devoted wife and a career flyer. If we are being completely honest it is not realistic to maintain a high flying career and children on your own, without help. Men for the most part are expected to be breadwinners and are rarely scrutinised for not doing their share of care giving therefore, the woman is often forced to sacrifice her work for time with the kids. However, if you are in a situation where you and your spouse are able to hire a nanny/ housekeeper, why not make life easier for yourselves? I understand there are women who take pride in doing it all alone but at the end of it all you will be exhausted and depleted. Your physical and mental health is more important than trying to win brownie points for the woman of the year award.

5. Define your Own Definition of Success

The general census of what it means to be successful is to graduate, enter a stable field and earn plenty of £££££, get married and eventually have children. There is not anything wrong with that but that is not everybody's plan. As long as you know where you are headed and working towards the plans you have set yourself, that is all that matters. When we set out to make any major decisions in life, we should question the intentions behind them. Am I doing this because it brings me happiness and fulfilment or because I am craving externatal rewards and validation?

Life Lessons From Financial Enthusiast and Influencer Patricia Bright

Patricia Bright is one of the biggest Youtubers online  with a mass following of over 2 million subscribers.
Whilst documenting fashion, beauty and lifestyle related content, she also possess a wealth of knowledge in the financial sector which she often shares with viewers. Growing up in South London she faced many challenges with her family and managed to conquer them all to become the global entrepreneur she is today. Patricia is now sharing her life story and the lessons she has learned along the way in her book, Heart and Hustle: Use Your Passion. Build Your Brand. Achieve Your Dreams.

1. Every idea is a good idea
I was recently watching a mini clip on YouTube of The Real, and the panelists were discussing their 'stupid ideas' which turned out to be ideas others had also thought of and later captislised on. One example being in previous years comedienne Loni Love mentioned in her younger days she would  deliver food to the older people in her community for a period of time and years later we now have the food delivery service, UberEats! One person's silly idea, is another's goldmine. The hosts also touched on the fact that all ideas can be revised and improved on. Whatever ideas I have in my mind I tend to write down because you never know how that may become of use down the line. A simple idea today can turn into a million pound business next year.

2. Stop talking and get the work done
One reason we love to talk about our plans as opposed to just doing it because it is much easier than actually getting the work done. Talk is cheap and quick, it literally requires little effort to confess something you dream of doing in the future. Sadly the reality is talking will only get you so far if you are not willing to buckle down and do what you need to do. Now there is nothing wrong with letting it be known what you are up to with people that are close to you but it is all the more satisfying to let your results speak for itself.

4. Celebrate yourself often
In life it is usually only big milestones which are worthy of being celebrated and applauded. This can mean landing job promotions, moving house and graduations. These particular events only happen a few times in the year which means we should wait every 5 months to treat ourselves? I don't know about you but that is too long a wait for me. In recent years I have learned the importance of celebrating my smaller achievements which others may not be aware of because I want to feel good and reward myself for my work even if no one else knows about it. Even as I am writing this blog post, I am promising to treat myself to a nice takeaway meal if I am able to finish this post by the end of the night. If you don't reward for the little things, who will?

5. Speak positively to yourself
Positive self talk is an essential part of moving forward in life. The cares of everyday life will occasionally cause us to become stressed and depleted and the last thing you need is negative thoughts infiltrating your mind as well. Espcially for creative people and those of us sharing our art online, we can get caught up comparing and doubting what we are creating therefore it is important to gain control over what we feed into. The mind controls our actions therefore we have to all that we can to ensure that it is being nourished and well taken care of. Last year I wrote a post on writing things into a existence and how the words which are spoken can impact our lives.

6. Be a Genuine Creator
With the rise of social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter, it has become clear how easy it can be to become a viral star. Now more than ever trends are being excessively copied and ideas stolen - many have forgotten that it takes originality and innovativeness to maintain longevity. Those who are known to repeatedly steal the work of others, rarely stay around for long and are shortly forgotten. There are online 'stars' who are creating content for the love of gaining popularity as opposed to wanting to add value to their audience. My thing is if you do not have genuine intentions about being an online creator and using your platform for good, you are better off finding a hobby you are actually passionate about and seek pleasure from.

Write it Into Existence

"I shall be a bestselling writer, After Imago, each of my books will be on the bestseller at LAT, NYG, PW, WP, etc. My novels will go onto the above lists whether publishers push them hard or not, whether i'm paid a high advance or not, whther I ever win another award or not. This is my life. I write best selling novels. My novels go on to the best seller on or shortly after publication. My novels travel up to the top of the best seller lists and they reach the top and they stay on top for months (at least two). Each of mt novels does this. So be it! I will find the way to do this. See to it! So be it! See to it!
My books will be read by millions of people.
I will buy a beautiful home in an excellent neighbourhood.
I will send poor black youngsters to Clarion or other writer's workshops.
I will help poor black youngsters broaden their horizons.
I will help poor black youngster go to college.
I will get the best of healthcare for my mother and myself.
I will hire a car whenever I want to or need it.
I will travel whenever and wherever in the world I choose.
My books will be read my millions of people!
So be it! See to it!"

These are the words of assurance from the wonderful writer Octavia Butler.

I love the confidence she exudes through displaying her wants and desires for her future. As a writer, it can feel like it is just you alone with your words because words are so special to us. The words you profess are a reflection of how you feel in your heart. Your words are a reflection of how you perceive the world around you. Word are precious. Words are delicate. Words have meaning and power therefore it is important to use them wisely.

Octavia was a woman who believed in the power of her and she wrote down her goals as a reminder to herself of what she aimed to achieve in the future. Years later she has become a best selling author who has sold millions of copies of books!

The phrase speaking into existence has recently become a popular phrase amongst many to encourage  us to affirm positivity over our lives. On social media I have witnessed a couple of people saying that speaking things into existence is not biblical. Whilst the phrase is not written in the bible, it is used moreso to motive and develop a positive outlook on ones future. Speaking it into existence does not mean that as soon as I claim a blessing it will automatically come to pass. God wants me to succeed and do well at whatever I put my hand to and he has stated in His word that there is Life and Death in the power of the tongue therefore I am using the power words hold to speak life and happiness into my life.

Writing is equally as important as speaking. Writing you goals down leaves a reminder of what you have dreamed of and it allows you to take the steps to work out how you will accomplish your goals. Without plan to take action you writing into existence becomes void.
For example, one of your goals could be that you want a car later this year. But what actions have you taken to ensure this becomes a reality. Have you applied for a provisional liscence? Have you started revising for your theory test? Are you taking practical driving lessions? Writing your plans down does not mean anything if you have no plans to take action. Speak and write your dreams into existenxe but do not forget to plan and be proactive with these ideas.

The Reality of Women Having it All

In an episode of reality talk show, The Real, the panel discussed whether it is possible for a woman to 'have it all'. When we take a look at the traditional version of what it means to have it all, it shows us that women should aspire to juggle every single task and responsibility with a smile and zero complaints. That is how I view it anyway.  The world has attempted to force feed women the idea that in order to have a fulfilled life they must have a flourishing career, husband and kids. But the reality is that is not every woman's desire.

Whilst discussing the topic, Adrienne made a profound statement which I loved. She added, ''I think the first thing as women we should recognise is, what does having it all mean to you? Because what my all is may not be your all.' I felt that was a significant statement because it made me pause and reflect on what it means to me to have it all. What I came to realise is that it does not align with the definition that society has encouraged us to believe, it is subjective and can mean whatever you want it to. For myself, I desire to maintain a healthy relationship with God, become apart of a strong friendship group, and build a successful writing path. That is what I long to work towards.
Shortly after Adrienne went on to include the idea that having it all can mean different things at different stages in life. As a teenager she was very career orientated and worked hard to further her acting career whereas now, being an older woman she now finds joy in spending more quality time with her family.

Girls and women are individuals with multidimensional aspirations and desires, therefore, we will not all want to experience the same things and I think there are people that find that difficult to comprehend due to the roles women have been obligated to play in society as well as limited media representation we have had to endure over the years. But now that is changing and women are calling the shots in their own lives and I am here for it!

So to answer the question of 'can women have it all?' Absolutely yes!

Vision Boarding: Dreams, Goals and Aspirations

If you are a newbie and have not yet experienced creating a vision board, this is the perfect time to get one started. The new year is around the corner so what better way to begin than being prepared and well equipped to hit your goals? A vision board is simply a visual representation of all of the goals and aspirations you would like to reach in the future, whether that be in the next year or in the next 5. It is completely up to you what you decide to place on there because how you spend your time and what you wish to achieve is an individual affair, no one can tell you what you should want for yourself.

Before you even start your dream board, you will firstly need to ask yourself some important questions in order for you to get an idea of what you want. Who do I want to be? What career do I want to have? What type of people do I want to be surrounded with? What lifestyle choices do I want to make? What countries do I wish to travel to? Where do I want to reside? This is also a learning exercise to develop an understanding of who you are and what you eventually want to become.

If you're like me and opt for a digital version, Pinterest and Tumblr, We Heart It, are all useful tools for inspiration. I used the app Canvas to produce my board. It is super easy and effortless to navigate and cost-free. You can use your board as your wallpaper on your phone so that every time you look on your mobile, you are met with your dream future. Alternatively you may prefer a physical board which can be created by buying your own cardboard canvas and cutting and sticking motivational quotes, aesthetically pleasing mages and photos from magazines, newspaper articles and online sources. Another option you may want to consider would be creating a vision book. It is the same concept only that you will use a plain notebook/scrapbook to fill the pages with whatever you have wished to place in your future. I may decide to write a separate post on this in the near future but for now, Youtuber and influencer Aliyah Maria Bee has a video detailing her own which you may draw inspiration from.

In some respect vision boards may appear to be be a collection of pretty pictures but in reality if they are made with pure intention, they serve as a constant reminder of which direction in life you're headed toward. As lovely to gaze at as they are, looking at your board alone will not suddenly cause them to come to life. Real work needs to be done assist your affirmations. You can affirm what you want to be but without putting in the work, you won't get very far.
There are some who would prefer to wait until the 1st January to decide what they want for 2020 and beyond but why wait till then when you can start a month before and already be 5 steps ahead. I would rather go into the new year a few steps ahead, feeling prepared and ready for the challenges awaiting. The longer you wait, the longer it will take to attain those goals in the future. Start NOW.

How to Be an Overnight Success By Maria Hatzistefanis

How To Be an Overnight success is the biographical account of the career of skincare brand owner, Maria Hatzistefanis and talented illustrator, Emma Kenny, who illustrated the gorgeous cover for the book.

Over the years the founder of Rodial and Nip and Fab has spent her time building her expertise of luxury skincare products which have been sported by the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Kylie Jenner.

Hatszistefanis shares the precious gems she has discovered on her journey of entrepreneurship and kindly sprinkled them in a book for her audience. If you would like to learn more about the lessons she has learned about developing a global brand, please do carry on reading..

Most of us want to do well in life, no matter what we do. I find that people who excel brilliantly are the ones who have clarity about their goals and move with assurance regarding following through with their goals. It is not enough to just want it. You need to clear about how you are going to reach your desired destination. When I am feeling unsure about where I am headed I brainstorm the necessary steps I need to take in order to get there. It may take a little longer than I would have liked but at times and that's alright because there is no rush and I am not in competition with anybody.

As you develop your craft and understand the type of content you enjoy producing, it is possible to get caught into the net of complacency. As soon as complacency hits, your work becomes routine and dull. Maria states, 'sometimes pushing the limits means creating opportunities that other people don't see' and I could not agree more. It can be as simple as questioning, 'what can I bring attention to which nobody else is checking for and how can I make it engaging for my audience?'

My honest belief is that collaborating with others in your field has to begin with a firm foundation. It can start off by simply engaging with their work for example, leaving sweet messages about how much you have enjoyed reading their posts, recommending it other people who may benefit from it, and offering constructive criticism. All of which I would like to do a lot more of this year. It is the little things that make a big difference. Building genuine relationships with other ladies who are pursuing similar things myself is the goal.

If and when in the future I decide to collaborate with other writers, it has to be genuine and authentic.

Whilst discussing her tips for achieving she success, Maria explains that we should identify people who's work we admire and follow their journey. Some ways of going about this are reading their biographies, listening to motivating interviews on YouTube and following them on their social media platforms.

As a blogger you may assume I would be keeping up with all the juice in the blogging world  but if I am honest there are not a lot of blogs that interest me a whole lot. That may partially be because I have not made a strong enough effort to connect with other bloggers.  This year however, I would like to seek out the work of more young bloggers and study the bloggers who are already established and see what I could learn from them!

It is so easy to catch yourself making comparisons with others especially when you know you have not reached the point of success you would have liked.
When I see young ladies my age receiving great opportunities it does make me pause and think that I am possibly not doing enough to reach the same heights they have. On the other hand, it gives me hope that if they have been able to work hard and reap the benefits of their labour, I can do the same. Whenever I catch myself making a comparison, I try to steer it into inspiration and hope.

Whilst discussing her tips for achieving success, Maria explains that we should identify people who's work we admire and follow their journey. Some ways of going about this are reading their biographies, listening to motivating interviews on YouTube and following them on their social media platforms.

In the land of blogging, there are so many of us who writing about similar topics. Mind you, there are a number of niches which I love the variety of but I believe when we see the popular bloggers , there is pressure to conform to the thing everyone loves. At the moment I would say the most popular type of blogs are fashion and beauty, and I respect girls and women growing individual platforms to showcase their femininity with the world. The truth is when such a large number of people are doing the same thing, it can feel very repetitve. The only way to stand out is to do what you do differently.

There are tonnes of more gems to collect in this book but I do not want to give too much away! If you would like to learn more from Maria's inspiring story then head over now to Amazon to purchase How to Become an Overnight Success.

Life Lessons from Kimora Lee Simmons

Do you guys know about the reality show Kimora: Life in the Fab lane? That was one of my favourite shows back in the day! The show explored the ins and outs of the luxurious and glamourous life of the world renowned model Kimora Lee Simmons alongside her kids and former husband and kids. I had been itching to have a copy of her book, Fabulosity: What it is and How to Get it and now I've done just that at long last! Kimora describes fabulosity as: a state of everything that is fabulous and 2: a quality ascribed to that which expresses glamour, style, charisma, power, and heart. The book is is filled with tonnes of relateable and practical content from building your confidence, asserting yourself in the workplace and building connections in your career.

A few lessons I learned from the book include:

1. Encourage yourself to be different.
When you are building yourself in a particular industry (especially one that is quite small such as the creative industry) you will find alot of people wanting to do similar things therefore in order to stand and differentiate yourself you mist set yourself apart and ensure that you are bringing something different to the table.

2. Fake it til you make it. I don't mean to fake being somebody youre not or being a phony. I mean tell yourelself youre great even when some part of you is doubting it.
We have all heard the saying, 'fake it till you make it' but this sometimes is the only way of pushing forward and forcing yourself out of your comfort zone. If we don't encourage ourselves, who will?
3. Turn your insecurities into your power
Being a fellow tall girl myself, I have never really enjoyed being the one who towers over the vast majority of the people in the room. I sincerely hope one day I will get to a get to place of feeling truly comfortable with my height and body. Standing at a staggering 6'2 Kimora carved a career out of her height which she once upon a time was bullied and picked on for!

4. The people who succceed are the ones who act on their ideas. You dont have to come up with the most incredible idea ever to be successful, so dont sit paralyzed in fear that your idea isnt 'good enough' to execute.
Even if an idea you come up with has been executed before, there is a chance it has not been executed the way you would have liked. You know, when you wait for a music video to drop and it isn't anything near as amazing as you had envisioned it to be? I guess that could be the same with our ideas and plans!

I strongly reccomend this book to any young girl or woman who is struggling with finding their identity amd would benefit from hearing the comforting story of a misfit - turned mogul and completely changed their life around from making the most of what cards were handed to her.
